DELWP Climate Action Plan
Scroll
Victoria is part of the global transition to net zero emissions by 2050; we're proud to be supporting it.
We worked with the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to promote the Victorian Climate Action Plan – a commitment to net zero emissions by 2050. We created two films along with social collateral to generate broader community awareness.
Our Process
STAGE 1 — DISCOVERY
To better understand our audience and key stakeholders relevant to this project, we spoke with a range of different stakeholders from policymakers and the Minister for Environment's Office, to members of the DELWP team and representatives of the public audience. Together, this created a reference for the future audience.STAGE 2 — DEFINE
We then worked with DELWP to define the elements that were most important to communicate and how to make it accessible to all Victorians across multiple channels. By synthesising the climate action policy document and simplifying its language, we were able to define a suite of assets that would best communicate this message to the relevant audiences.STAGE 3 — DESIGN
In collaboration with DELWP's design team, we used the visual language of the action plan to plan and develop two films: Climate Action 101 - a film that outlined the extent and urgency of the climate crisis to all Victorians and Climate Action Plan - a multi audience film initially used to explain the new policy to members of the cabinet. It was also used to explain the policy to the wider public. Beyond the films, we designed a suite of digital assets including social media content for use across DELWP and state government channels. We designed the communication assets with a diverse representation of the intended audience in mind. The design phase was iterative, testing messaging with key stakeholder groups which helped refine and simplify.STAGE 4 — DELIVER
During the production and delivery phase we worked closely and collaboratively with various government agencies, led by DELWP strategic communications. This supported the sourcing of relevant content and footage that brought the overarching message together in a consistent way. The interdisciplinary client and Local Peoples joint team included policy makers, strategic communications experts, brand and visual designers, copywriters, producers and animators. All final deliverables were benchmarked to ensure WAC 2.0 accessibility principles were followed including consideration for contrast and audio through provision of captions and scripts.
Together, the Victorian community can create meaningful change for the planet, and for the next generation.
